What type of van do you need?

Who is the van for?

Three simple options

Choose the commitment that fits.

Every option is paid monthly. The difference is how long you commit at the start and what happens at the end.

Maximum flexibility

1 month

Commit for the first month. Keep the van and the rental continues monthly, or give notice during the initial term to return it at the end of month one.

  • 1-month initial commitment
  • Choose 1,000 or 2,000 miles a month
  • Then rolling monthly with 14 days' notice

Plan ahead

12 months

Fix the initial term and agree an optional guaranteed purchase price at the outset. At month 12, return, extend by agreement or buy the van.

  • 12-month initial commitment
  • Choose 1,000 or 2,000 miles a month
  • Return, extend or buy at month 12

No hunting through the small print to understand the basic deal. Your final quote and rental agreement will repeat these details before you commit.

The monthly rental

What's covered—and what isn't.

Mechanical running costs stay predictable, while the customer remains responsible for insurance, day-to-day consumables and driver-related damage.

Included

  • Scheduled servicing
  • Routine mechanical maintenance
  • Road tax
  • Standard breakdown cover

You cover

  • Fuel, AdBlue and screenwash
  • Customer's motor insurance
  • Tyres, punctures and abnormal or accelerated tyre wear
  • Damage outside the agreed fair-wear standard
  • Fines, penalties and excess mileage
A clear tyre rule

Tyres and punctures are not included. The customer pays for punctures, impact or kerb damage and replacement caused by abnormal or accelerated wear. A defect already present at handover remains Viva's responsibility.

The 12-month difference

Know the purchase price from day one.

If the option is agreed before the rental begins, your guaranteed month-12 purchase price appears in the agreement from the outset. At month 12, buying is your choice—not an obligation.

Which rental terms can I choose?

Choose an initial term of one, three or 12 months. One- and three-month rentals continue on a rolling monthly basis after the initial term. The 12-month plan ends with the choice to return the van, extend by agreement or use an agreed purchase option.

How much notice do I need to return the van?

You can give notice during your initial one- or three-month term to return the van on its final day. Once the rental is rolling, give 14 calendar days' notice. The final part-month is charged pro rata. Return arrangements for a 12-month plan are agreed before month 12.

How does the security deposit work?

The refundable security deposit is equal to one month's rental, calculated using the VAT-inclusive monthly amount. It is normally returned within 10 working days after the van's final inspection, less any agreed charges for damage, mileage, fuel, fines or other outstanding balances.

How much mileage is included?

Choose 1,000 or 2,000 miles per month. Your total allowance is based on the selected monthly figure and the length of the hire. Excess mileage is charged at 25p plus VAT per mile; if your needs change, contact us before renewal about changing plan.

Is insurance included?

No. Viva operates on a customer-own-insurance basis, often called COI. You must provide proof of fully comprehensive insurance covering the hired vehicle and every approved driver before collection or delivery. Viva will verify the cover before releasing the van.

What servicing and maintenance are included?

Scheduled servicing, routine mechanical maintenance, road tax and standard breakdown cover are included. You must tell Viva promptly when a service is due and follow the vehicle's maintenance instructions.

Are tyres included?

Tyres and puncture repairs are not included. The customer is responsible for punctures, impact or kerb damage and replacement caused by abnormal or accelerated wear. Any defect already present at handover remains Viva's responsibility.

Can I choose manual or automatic?

Yes. Our core Ford Transit Custom and Volkswagen Transporter fleet includes manual and automatic options, subject to availability for your dates.

Do you offer panel vans and crew vans?

Yes. You can choose panel vans, Ford Double Cab models and Volkswagen Transporter Kombis, with both short- and long-wheelbase options across the fleet.

Can I buy the van after renting it?

Yes. Where agreed at the start, Viva can provide a guaranteed future purchase price for month 12, so you know the figure from the outset. Taking up the option is your choice and remains subject to the agreed rental and purchase terms.

Where is Viva Van Hire based?
