Plain-English rental summary
The important rental terms, in one place.
This summary explains the commercial structure of Viva's monthly hire. The quote and signed rental agreement will contain the complete terms for your vehicle.
This customer-friendly summary is ready for review. Viva's complete rental agreement must be approved before online bookings are enabled and will take priority if there is any difference.
1. Initial rental term
Customers choose an initial term of one, three or 12 months. One- and three-month plans continue monthly after the initial term unless the customer gives notice. The 12-month plan ends with a choice to return the vehicle, extend by agreement or, where agreed at the outset, buy it at the guaranteed purchase price.
2. Payment and security deposit
Rental is paid monthly in advance. The refundable security deposit is equal to one month's rental, calculated using the VAT-inclusive monthly amount. It is normally returned within 10 working days after the final inspection, less any agreed charges for damage, excess mileage, missing fuel, fines or other outstanding balances.
3. Mileage
Choose 1,000 or 2,000 miles per month. Total permitted mileage is calculated from the selected monthly allowance and the length of the hire. Additional mileage is charged at 25p + VAT per mile. Customers should contact Viva before renewal if their expected mileage changes.
4. Customer-own insurance
Viva does not provide motor insurance. Fully comprehensive cover for the hired vehicle and every approved driver must be in force and verified before the van is released. The policy must permit the agreed business or personal use and remain valid throughout the rental. The customer must tell Viva immediately if the cover changes or is cancelled.
5. Servicing, maintenance and breakdown
Scheduled servicing, routine mechanical maintenance, road tax and standard breakdown cover are included. Customers must monitor warning lights and service messages, follow the vehicle instructions and make the vehicle available when Viva arranges maintenance.
6. Tyres and day-to-day costs
Tyres and puncture repairs are not included. The customer is responsible for punctures, impact or kerb damage and replacement required because of abnormal or accelerated wear. Fuel, AdBlue and screenwash are also the customer's responsibility. Any defect documented as present at handover remains Viva's responsibility.
7. Notice and returning the vehicle
You may give notice during the initial term to return on its final day. Once a one- or three-month plan is rolling, 14 calendar days' notice applies and any final part-month is charged pro rata. The van must be returned with all keys and equipment, at the agreed fuel level and in a condition consistent with the return standard supplied at handover. Damage outside that standard may be charged.
8. Guaranteed purchase price at month 12
Where offered, the purchase price and its conditions are written into the agreement before the rental begins. The customer is not obliged to buy. Any sale is completed separately and remains subject to the vehicle's agreed condition, mileage and account being up to date.
